The data analytics program requires completion of college algebra or equivalent as a prerequisite. Students should have a solid foundation in basic mathematical concepts. If you need to strengthen your math skills, EOU offers preparatory courses that can help you meet these requirements while building confidence in quantitative analysis.

No prior programming experience is required to apply to the Bachelor’s in Data Analytics program. The curriculum is designed to teach you programming languages like Python, R, and SQL from the ground up. However, basic computer literacy and comfort with technology will help you succeed in the program.

The core curriculum includes foundational courses in statistical methods and analysis, database management and SQL, programming in Python and R, data visualization and storytelling, machine learning fundamentals, business intelligence and analytics, big data technologies, predictive analytics, and data ethics and privacy.

Students in the data analytics program learn industry-standard programming languages including Python for data analysis and machine learning, R for statistical computing, and SQL for database querying. You’ll also gain experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI, preparing you for real-world data analytics roles.

Throughout the program, you’ll gain hands-on experience with Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Excel, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, basics, Google Cloud Platform, Google Analytics, SAS, SPSS, and Stata. All required software is either free/open-source or provided through student licenses.

Yes, the program culminates in a two-course capstone sequence where you’ll apply your data analytics skills to solve real-world problems. Students work with actual datasets from partner organizations or develop their own data-driven projects, creating a portfolio piece that demonstrates your abilities to potential employers. Yes, the Bachelor’s in Data Analytics is offered entirely online with no on-campus requirements. All coursework, projects, and even practicum experiences can be completed remotely, providing maximum flexibility for working professionals, parents, military members, and students with geographic constraints.

Online courses are delivered through Canvas, EOU’s learning management system. Courses feature interactive discussions, video lectures, hands-on projects, and collaborative assignments. No in-person attendance is required. All components of the degree, including the practicum experiences, can be completed remotely. However, students are welcome to attend optional on-campus events, graduation ceremonies, or visit campus if they choose.

Eastern Oregon University’s online bachelor’s in data Analytics admission requirements include a 2.5 GPA for high school graduates and 2.25 GPA for college transfer students. Students with an AAOT/ASOT degree need only a 2.0 GPA. All applicants must submit official transcripts from previously attended institutions, a completed application, and the application fee.
